ClosureFast™ Treatment in Southwest Louisiana
What is ClosureFastTM?
ClosureFastTM is an innovative technique, which is clinically proven to be an effective means of treating varicose veins and their underlying cause, venous reflux. It is an outpatient procedure that requires only local anesthesia.
At the Vein Center of Southwest Louisiana, the experienced team of vein specialists, led by Dr. Carl Fastabend, is pleased to offer the latest advanced, minimally-invasive vein treatment options for our patients, which includes ClosureFastTM.
Why is ClosureFastTM used?
The ClosureFastTM procedure is used to treat patients with varicose veins and/or symptomatic venous insufficiency.
Dr. Fastabend may suggest this procedure if you are experiencing symptoms of varicose veins or venous reflux, including surface veins that may be:
- Enlarged
- Swollen
- Twisted
- Bulging
- Red, blue or flesh-toned in color
- Appearing on the thighs, back of the calves, or inside of the legs
- Painful and/or itchy
What does ClosureFastTM involve?
The ClosureFastTM procedure uses ultrasound guidance in order to guide a small catheter into position in the diseased vein. Next, carefully controlled radiofrequency energy is applied to heat the vein wall. This causes the collagen in the vein wall to shrink and the vein to close. Once the diseased vein is closed, blood is naturally re-routed to other healthy veins and the collapsed vein is absorbed by body tissue.
Since ClosureFastTM is a minimally-invasive technique, patients walk away from the procedure with just a small bandage, and typically return to their normal activities within a day.
